In a Christian Science Sunday School teachers' workshop, the guest speaker made the point that each one of us has an equal ability to express God's qualities of love, inspiration, intelligence, and freedom. When she asked us directly if we ourselves had an equal ability to teach, everyone in the room immediately answered with an enthusiastic "Yes!" Except for me. I said, "That depends." Then everybody laughed.
But I was serious. With proper preparation and prayer, all teachers can be excellent teachers. But if you polled the students or superintendents in Sunday Schools, you would not find general agreement that all teachers perform equally well or to the highest standard.
What is it that makes one more successful than another?
