Recently it was time for me to renew my driver's license. For some years my license had restrictions because of impaired vision that had resulted from an accident. Over the years I had prayed about this, never thinking of any other means of help than prayer. As I drove to the license bureau on this occasion, I felt more certain than ever that no suggestion of impairment could limit my service to God. I understood a little better that divine Mind, God, is the only source of perception. To me this meant that as Mind's reflection, I could know myself or others, or be known by others, only the way the all-loving one Mind knows His creation: not as mortal, but as the perfect idea of Spirit.
The friendly welcome I received at the license bureau put me at ease. During the visual examination, the bureau employee seemed quite pleased. With a smile, she told me my vision was so greatly improved that all restrictions could be removed from my driver's license. I rejoiced in this spiritual victory, coming after so many years. Now I know more surely, as we read in Science and Health, "Neither age nor accident can interfere with the senses of Soul, and there are no other real senses" (p. 214).
