Some years ago, I was troubled from time to time by a physical condition in which one of my legs would become very swollen and the skin irritated, my stomach would get upset, and I would be subject to weariness and restricted mobility. These occurrences were not very frequent, but were quite distressing. Each time, my dear wife and I prayed deeply to understand God's law more fully On most occasions, the symptoms were overcome reasonably quickly, but it was frustrating to have the condition continue to recur.
Then came a little later a time of more serious testing. Because I was unconscious during part of the time, I've taken some of the details of the experience from an account my wife wrote.
The symptoms had appeared again one morning. While endeavouring to get out of bed, I fainted and fell to the ground. My wife couldn't move me by herself, so she covered me and telephoned our son, who lived close by. I had regained consciousness by the time our son arrived, and they helped me back to bed. Naturally, my wife was praying for me as she always did during these episodes. The following day, I was able to take my part in conducting the Sunday church service as Second Reader.
