Where I have lived for over ten years, there are many hills, curves, and trees. While driving to church to usher for the Thanksgiving Day service, I glanced down for some reason, I don't remember why. When I looked up, I was on the wrong side of the road near a ditch. I remember saying out loud, No! No! Although there were no cars about, I guess I pulled too quickly back to the right side of the road. The car turned over and hit a tree.
When I regained consciousness, I was sitting on the floor of the front passenger's side of the car. I began to pray earnestly. Remembering God is ever present, I clung to every truth that came to mind. The motor was still running, so I turned it off. Then I began to honk the horn, but no one seemed to hear me.
Finally a young man and his wife heard the horn and came down the incline, to my rescue. Soon the police, ambulance, firetruck, and others appeared, including a woman who came to the side of the car before they were able to get me out and told me she and others were praying for me. I thanked her and smiled. I continued to pray, and by the time I had been taken out of the car, a friend I knew had stopped by and offered to take me home. I accepted gratefully, as I did not wish to ride in the ambulance. I walked into the house with no problem. Later I did call a Christian Science practitioner for treatment through prayer. She and I agreed that this accident had never happened in God's kingdom, and that I, being a child of God, need not suffer from bodily injuries or shock.
