About a year ago, I had a healing of a long-standing internal difficulty. This trouble had been going on for a number of years. It was not painful, but certain functions did not occur normally I prayed about the situation, and although it improved for a time, it was not really healed. Then suddenly, last year, the condition became acute. I was in pain, and I was very frightened.
As I prayed, however, I soon realized that the whole condition was one of fear. I was tense with fear. I prayed to understand that I was not made of matter, but I was God's perfect, spiritual idea. God, divine Love, was right there with me. The truth of my real being, as God's idea, could never change. The stoppage of normal bodily functioning is impossible because matter has no intelligence. I held to two statements in Science and Health: "Every function of the real man is governed by the divine Mind"; and further on, "The divine Mind that made man maintains His own image and likeness" (p. 151). I was so absorbed in my prayer that I do not know how long it took, but gradually I began to relax and then found that all was well.
It took several days before I fully realized that the whole condition had been completely healed. All functions were normal and natural, and I have had no further trouble.
