Sunday School ... at the mall?

From the February 2000 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Could you imagine a Christian Science Sunday School at a shopping mall? Or maybe at a coffeehouse or soccer field? The notion seems pretty incongruous. But something can be said for these locations: they're often filled with potential Sunday School students.

This isn't an argument for every branch of The Mother Church to rent space at the local mall and hold classes there each Sunday. Yet Sunday School can't be confined to a particular location, day, or hour. Anytime and anywhere, Christian Scientists can provide it for children and young people by embracing them with the essence of Sunday School: a prayer-based love that naturally flows outward and can be felt by everyone it touches.

How can they do this? By starting at the beginning. The first verse of Genesis—the very beginning of the Bible—provides an excellent starting point for Sunday School at the mall: "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth." This turns us directly to God and His perfect creation.
