Testimonies of Healing

A desire to find God

From the May 2002 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Some years ago, I was somewhat confused about spirituality. I wanted to find God. At that time, I moved to Novo Hamburgo and was very worried about finding a home to rent. It seemed difficult. A friend of mine, a student of Christian Science, explained to me that God is very good, that He is Love itself, and that He never leaves His children in a helpless situation. My friend told me I could trust God. This conversation gave me a lot of confidence, and the very next day, I met someone at the bus stop who worked in a real estate office and told me about a wonderful house. I immediately remembered my friend's words.

I decided to accept his invitation and attend a Christian Science church service with him. That day the congregation sang a hymn written by Mary Baker Eddy. The first verse says,

Shepherd, show me how to go
O'er the hillside steep,
How to gather, how to sow,—
How to feed Thy sheep....
