Testimonies of Healing

No more need for bypass surgery

From the June 2002 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In 1992, I was having a difficult time working a full day, as I became very tired just doing light work. I finally went to see a doctor. He ran a series of tests on me, including a treadmill test.

A week later, I went back to his office for the results. He told me that two of the arteries to my heart were almost completely blocked. I was sent to a surgeon for a consultation. She said that she needed to schedule me for bypass surgery right away. I told her I would call her.

I knew that I was not going to have bypass surgery. I decided to confide in a friend, whose house my stepfather and I were doing repair work on. I told her about the results of the tests and what the doctors had suggested. I also told her that I'd decided I was going to find a way to heal myself, but had no idea how. As it turned out, she was a lifelong Christian Scientist. She gave me two copies of the Christian Science Sentinel that contained articles about heart problems and how they were healed through prayer.
