From the September 2002 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Forgiveness. Healing. Restoration. Comfort. These are powerful words, two-edged swords in the fight against evil, yet as gentle as a mother bird's protective wings for those who are hurting.
This month's Frontlines shows how those and related words helped people from New York to Ankara to journey through and beyond the events of September 11, 2001. Our hope is that as you read their contributions, you will be reassured that the power of good is still active in the world for you, your loved ones, and all the rest of us, too. Good is in fact the only power—the omnipotent power that is God.

And in the spirit of new beginnings, we offer a number of articles that explore the world of Mary Baker Eddy and The Mary Baker Eddy Library for the Betterment of Humanity, which is due to open on Septermber 29. As you can see on our cover, the Library's wall of water presents the hope of help from the "sustaining infinite" to all who pass by or stop to enjoy its courtyard. We trust that through this issue, you will feel the presence of that infinitley loving Sustainer in your life also.
