A Muslim's thoughts

From the May 2003 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Would you explain why Muslims pray five times a day?

We pray in the morning, early afternoon, late afternoon, after sunset, and before we go to bed. These specific times of prayer keep us in touch with God. And I also pray to take God with me in the time between prayers. To feel God's mercy, forgiveness, knowledge, and so on. So we are not just faithful at the time of the prayer, but also after prayer.

Why is it necessary to face Mecca when you pray?
