"It's never too late to achieve your true, God-inspired potential."
This thought, which came suddenly and with startling clarity some two years ago, stopped me from slipping into the casual, almost unthinking acceptance of age decline.
Having been brought up in a Christian Science household, I had learned to trust God with all my hopes and aspirations, and over the years many of these had been happily fulfilled. Becoming a journalist at a "mature" age was one way I was able to prove that age can't limit opportunity; another was coming to the United States and working as a writer for The Christian Science Monitor, given the particularly tough immigration rules of the time.
