AT A VERY YOUNG AGE I was diagnosed as having rheumatic fever. During several months of medical treatment, the condition grew worse, and the doctors' predictions frightened my dad and mom.
A relative suggested they try Christian Science treatment instead. Although they were unfamiliar with this system of spiritual healing, my dad contacted a Christian Science practitioner and asked her to pray for me. Within three days I was healed—up, well, and doing all of the things natural to a healthy three-year-old. Years later, several thorough medical tests required by the military and for employment, as well as life full of physical activity, would confirm the permanence of this healing.
As a result of my restoration to health, my family put its trust in God's care. And through their study and application of the Science that Jesus taught and lived, as explained by Mary Baker Eddy in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, they proved for themselves that they had found "the truth."
