From the February 2006 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Blake Windal has a message for anyone who might be asked to conduct services in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist. "Being a Reader can seem like such a huge task," he says. "But once I realized that the office grew out of Mary Baker Eddy's divine revelation—and anyone filling that office is supported by this fact—I just knew I would be fine." A professional musician and an entertainment center manager who lives in Orange County, California, Blake shares his insights on reading in his article, "Let it shine" (p. 14).

"In India, people generally turn to Christian Science if there's a problem they can't solve in any other way," relates Christian Science practitioner and teacher Jer Master. "Many still believe, however, that it's one thing to heal a headache, but quite another to heal something incurable." However, as Jer explains in "A cure for every ill" (p. 48), God is equal to any difficulty. "It's the beauty of Christian Science," she says, "that we disbelieve all error, and believe only the wonderful goodness of God."

Gung-ho might be the adjective that best describes UK native David Hogg. In spite of the fact that he was buckling down for exams just as we began our editorial back and forth, this month's contributor to our Teen Talk section could not have been a more willing—or enthusiastic—participant. And did he ever have a lot of experiences to share! Wondering which one we decided on in the end? Check out "Applied metaphysics" (p. 58).
