TIMELESS ARTICLES, CONTINUED INSPIRATION
I was happy to see the reference in the article titled "Fear Less" [July, p. 60] to "God's Law of Adjustment" by Adam H. Dickey. I thought this article had been forgetten. This reference to "God's Law of Adjustment" may encourage many young people to read it. It was a source of hope to many during World War II. It always seems relevant to me.

Every time I read Blanche Hersey Hogue's article "The Church Manual" (originally printed in the September 10, 1910, issue of the Christian Science Sentinel), I find a deeper love for and appreciation of the Manual of The Mother Church. I am beginning to see why Mary Baker Eddy recommended that article's "careful study to all Christian Scientists" and why it continues to be reprinted through the years, most recently in the November 2005 issue of the Journal.

ANSWERS THAT HIT HOME
Thank you for sharing the three writers' insights on Jesus' transfiguration in the July issue (Questions & Answers, p. 8). In response to the question "How can I progress most rapidly in the understanding of Christian Science?" Mrs. Eddy stated in Science and Health, "Study thoroughly the letter and imbibe the spirit" (p. 495). These three writers certainly imbibed the spirit in illumining Jesus' ability to recognize and demonstrate to his disciples the spiritual state of existence. Each writer shone a clear light on Jesus' spiritual and sacred communication.

Thank you very much for the wonderful articles in the June Journal. In his contribution [p. 8] Charles Ferris quotes from Science and Health, page 571: "Know thyself, and God will supply the wisdom and the occasion for a victory over evil." Three nights ago "know thyself" kept coming to me again and again. And I thought about the words like an equation: Knowing yourself as God knows you—perfect, harmonious, spiritual—means loving yourself as God loves you, implying know = love. Working and praying with this idea resulted in several healings within two days. It wasn't a new idea to me, but it became so much more powerful.

METAPHOR SPARKS FURTHER THOUGHT
The feature "The Power of Jesus' Parables" in the June Journal was great. I especially liked how Linda Thompson ["Casting Her Spiritual Net," p. 42] brought out the comparison of using a net versus using a fishing pole. It could be considered that the fishing pole (prayer for self) can meet our needs, but the net (prayer for a family, community, or the world), as Linda demonstrated so well, can meet our needs and benefit many others.
