ANGELS? ARE YOU THERE?

From the March 2008 issue of The Christian Science Journal

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU ARE INVITED TO post a series of blogs on the Internet? Doors open wide for further opportunities. At least, that's what happened to Tony Lobl, Christian Science practitioner and Committee on Publication for Greater London and District Manager for the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland. After posting several blogs on the Web edition of a well-known magazine in the UK, New Statesman, Mr. Lobl got a call from the producers of Nexus, a religious and cultural program on an Iranian station, Press TV. Based in Iran, this 24-hour-a-day news station broadcasts throughout the Middle East. And now they wanted Lobl to participate in a televised discussion panel—to give the Christian Science perspective on angels.

Wow! Lobl could never have imagined that his blogs, which had everything to do with Christian Science but nothing specifically to do with angels, would reach such an unexpected audience. So Lobl jumped at the chance to take part in the hour-long program titled, "Are there any angels out there?" Hosted by Rebecca Masterton, a British woman who converted to Islam, the program focused on the phenomenon that many of the religions around the world acknowledge. including Islam: the existence of angelic beings. Ms. Masterton noted that depictions of angels goes back at least 5,000 years to ancient Samaria and has appeared in the culture of Central Asia and beyond ever since.

She reached out beyound herself saying, If there's anything out there, show me!
