FROM THE CHRISTIAN SCIENCE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

New Election

From the March 2008 issue of The Christian Science Journal

WITH OUR DEEP LOVE AND APPRECIATION for years of dedicated and selfless service, the Christian Science Board of Directors announces the retirement of M. Victor Westberg, C.S.B., from the Board of Directors. We will miss his quick wit, healing focus, and quiet wisdom on the Board. "Vic," as he is affectionately known, will continue to teach Christian Science and to conduct his association of pupils, in addition to maintaining a public healing practice.

Vic has a reputation for helping others, such as his work in cofounding a home for the mentally disabled and his service as a prison chaplain. After giving his successful toy distributorship to his employees, he entered the healing practice of Christian Science full time in 1970. He became a teacher of Christian Science in 1994. His commitment to the public healing ministry of Christian Science grew over the years and included serving as advisor to Christian Science organizations for university students in the San Francisco Bay area and as Committee on Publication for Northern California (1985–1992). In 1992 he came to Boston as Manager of Committees on Publication for The Mother Church and later served as President of the Board of Education, as Assistant Manager, Manager, and a Trustee of The Christian Science Publishing Society, and as a Trustee of The Mary Baker Eddy Library.

As Vic steps off the Board, we are delighted to announce the election, effective immediately, of Margaret Rogers, C.S.B., of San Rafael, California, to the Christian Science Board of Directors. Margaret became interested in the public healing ministry of Christian Science while a student at the University of California, Berkeley. She pursued this calling after graduation, first as a Journal-advertising Christian Science nurse and later as a Christian Science practitioner. She became a teacher of Christian Science in 1991.
