PRACTITIONER CHARGES AND LOVE'S DESIGN

From the August 2008 issue of The Christian Science Journal

HUMANITY YEARNS FOR HEALTH. As Mary Baker Eddy noted, "... mortal mind is calling for what immortal Mind alone can supply" (Miscellaneous Writings 1883-1896, p. 365). Beyond the desire for physical health, the greater need is for the deep spiritual regeneration that brings complete healing—the need for the transforming touch of the Christ.

It's no wonder that the opposing thought to Christ-healing—called animal magnetism—tries to stop thought from acknowledging that this help is here through Christian Science treatment. Animal magnetism attempts to keep humanity mesmerized by the belief that matter and material medicine comprise the world. This erroneous worldview rejects the value and worth of the medicine of divine Mind.

Yet the spiritual worth of scientific prayer is priceless. Christian Science treatment brings one's unlimited, radiant spiritual individuality into view rather than leaving us imprisoned by the beliefs of finite mortality. Christian Science treatment purifies one's consciousness. It normalizes and balances all aspects of life experience, not just physical health. It is, as the Apostle Paul describes the Word of God, "quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart" (Heb. 4:12). When anyone experiences even a glimpse of such transformation through Christian Science treatment, they know in the deepest reaches of their being that this gift is precious beyond measure.
