IN SPRING 2008, our congregation moved its Reading Room into the church building. At our location in Syracuse, New York, the church is set back quite a distance from the road. Although there's a lot of automobile traffic, there's little foot traffic. So church members suggested we take the Reading Room to a farmers' market on Saturdays in order to reach the public. I agreed it was a good idea and timidly made my foray into that very public space.
