FIVE YEARS AGO, one of my neighborhood friends saw my need and introduced me to Christian Science when I was feeling depressed and had some physical ailments. I found a new world of happiness when I received a very warm welcome from all church members. When I was still a very new member, the willingness of church members gave me opportunities such as overseeing the collection on Sundays, playing violin with hymns, and ushering in lectures. These activities encouraged me to become a branch church member and a Mother Church member to serve God more. Their love was the foundation stone of my spiritual journey.
Last September, we organized a public lecture and I had been appointed as lecture chair. After becoming lecture coordinator, it was time to organize my first lecture. I was full of enthusiasm, but I also felt a false sense of responsibility to make it a successful lecture even though everyone was full of inspiration to help me. Suddenly, a week before the lecture, I had an accident and there was a deep injury in my foot. I had been driving my two-wheel vehicle in a very dark area of road where there was some construction and my two-wheeler slipped and fell on top of my foot forming a deep cut.
Being the lecture coordinator, I felt ashamed about this accident. I felt helpless that I couldn't go anywhere to distribute cards or pamphlets. As I was taking help from a Christian Science practitioner, she kept on praying and giving me a lot of passages from Science and Health and other writings of Mary Baker Eddy to study in order to come out from very negative thoughts and fears. My family was concerned about my condition as I was not able to walk properly, but the Christian Science practitioner met my mother and comforted her by telling her that I was all right.
