Many of the people who lived and worked with Mary Baker Eddy later shared reminiscences of her, recording comments and experiences that led them to become better healers. One such reminiscence by Martha Wilcox, who came to work for Mrs. Eddy in 1908, has helped me grow as a healer.
Mrs. Wilcox was a personal maid for Mrs. Eddy. On the first evening in her new household position, she said, somewhat pridefully, “I did not forget once nor make a mistake, did I?” Mrs. Eddy agreed.
Later in the evening, Mary Baker Eddy called Mrs. Wilcox back to her room and asked, “Martha, do you ever forget?” And Martha replied that Mind (God) never forgets (see We Knew Mary Baker Eddy, p. 202). To some, that might seem to be a strange answer, but Mrs. Wilcox was affirming her relationship to God as witness to His knowing.
