‘Not for ease’

A conversation with Ron Mangelsdorf

From the March 2011 issue of The Christian Science Journal

He had a corporate job, with a long commute to and from Chicago’s Loop, and plenty of satisfying church and other volunteer work on the weekends. But had one over-arching desire: “to keep my thought open to any way in which I could serve God.” To do the radically right thing even if that proved the harder, steeper road.

Oh, and Ron dreamed about seeing Alaska.

“It was just the dream of getting there for a few months, and seeking some quiet and solitude,” Ron says. “But I fell in love with Alaska, stayed longer than I’d planned, and eventually made it my home. I was always asking God: What can I do to be of service to You?” And that something proved to be healing through prayer and teaching the Science of Christian healing.
