The call to commit

From the October 2012 issue of The Christian Science Journal

Since I was raised in Christian Science and in the Sunday School, it felt natural to apply for Mother Church membership, which I did a year after I graduated from Sunday School at age 20. By then I had started living this religion and had prayed about issues regarding schoolwork, finding employment, and resolving relationship problems. I was ready to make a commitment, as I had no doubt that the teachings of Christian Science contained the truth.

By joining The Mother Church we have the wonderful privilege of perhaps working directly for the Church. In Article VIII, Section 15, of the Church Manual we read: “God requires our whole heart, and He supplies within the wide channels of The Mother Church dutiful and sufficient occupation for all its members” (pp. 44–45).

Church isn't something that exists outside of us.
