Being fond of a book may not be unusual. But what about a book that’s fond of its owner?

Maybe I should define what I mean by this kind of fondness.

If you are liked by someone, then you are valued, asked about, fully embraced—even loved. What if a book promises this same affection toward its reader? You might look upon the book in a special way. While reading it, you would expect to receive what it has promised you.
