Cross and Crown trademark

From the March 2012 issue of The Christian Science Journal

To students of Christian Science, the Cross and Crown seal symbolizes the heart of our mission. The words in concentric circles that are part of the emblem, “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons,” evidence our Christian beliefs. They represent the united focus on healing that members have with The Mother Church and with each other.

From a legal perspective, the Cross and Crown seal is also an internationally registered trademark of The First Church of Christ, Scientist. It is one in a portfolio of trademarks, including the facsimile of Mary Baker Eddy’s signature, that are owned by the Christian Science Board of Directors.

Trademarks are commonly used to distinguish products in the marketplace. For many years, the Cross and Crown trademark was used exclusively on Mary Baker Eddy’s writings and publications from The Christian Science Publishing Society and The First Church of Christ, Scientist. The trademark denotes their authenticity as official publications of The Mother Church.
