Odyssey Networks, based in New York City, is America’s largest interfaith coalition dedicated to producing material that enriches spiritual life and promotes understanding among people of diverse beliefs and perspectives. Founded in 1987, its 119 members are made up of faith groups, individuals, and organizations such as the National Council of Churches. Our Church was introduced to Odyssey as a result of our dialogue with the National Council of Churches. Read more about that dialogue at https://community.christianscience.com/community/ecumenical_and_interfaith?view=blog or use this abbreviated link: http://tinyurl.com/cmyrqek.
In 2011, Odyssey Networks launched their mobile app “Call on Faith.” They describe the app as “the first all-video digital source of content that literally puts dynamic inspiration in the palm of your hand wherever you are, whenever you need it.” Our Church was invited to participate by making video Daily Lifts available. The Christian Science Board of Lectureship began supplying these Lifts in March 2012.
The Daily Lifts on the Call on Faith app are a collection of past Lifts in a simple video format. They are just one of several faith videos available via this app. Seven of the Call on Faith channels are programmed by Odyssey; other channels are from independent faith-based organizations. The content includes inspirational insights, advice on better living, personal stories of faith and compassion, meditation, interviews with authors of new books, and prayers and reflections from the world’s great faith traditions.
