I just love this passage in the Bible: “The trees of the Lord are full of sap” (Psalms 104:16). It inspired me to think about such a “tree”—created by God, “full of sap”—full of all the needed nutriments to make it healthy and flourishing. Its branches would also be the beneficiaries of that life-giving sap, making them vibrant and sprouting glossy leaves—home no doubt to many birds and animals. What a complete, beautiful idea such a tree is.
As I thought about it recently, it came to me that this tree “of the Lord” could symbolize The Mother Church and its worldwide branches.
Such a tree would first need to be planted and rooted in fertile soil. Could not The Mother Church, planted by Mary Baker Eddy, be seen as “. . . rooted and grounded in love” (Ephesians 3:17) or in the Christ, “. . . the good soil wherein the seed of Truth springs up and bears much fruit” (Science and Health, pp. 270–271)?
