Recently a good friend of mine and I were talking about praying for ourselves. I had just discovered that it helps me to sometimes write out my prayers and Christian Science treatments, which are specific spiritual truths that are applied to address specific concerns. I was pretty excited about what I was discovering about the power of prayer.
Even though I’d studied Christian Science for some time, it felt as if I’d gone up a notch in my practice of it. I was finding some real strength in being more consistent with my prayers, and I felt I was being more obedient to the directive in the Manual of The Mother Church to pray for ourselves daily (see “Daily Prayer,” p. 41).
During the course of the conversation, my friend said that she had some specific guidelines for daily prayer, and that she would be glad to share them with me. I said that I would love to have them.
