Commitment to Healing

A note about practitioner roundtables

From the June 2015 issue of The Christian Science Journal

, the first Christian Science practitioner roundtable was held at First Church of Christ, Scientist, Greater Lansing, Michigan. It came about because several members of the church were interested in becoming full-time practitioners, listed in The Christian Science Journal, yet they had some questions they wanted to talk through and thought that other church members might also like to explore some of the practical issues of full-time healing work. They reached out to the Manager of Practitioner Activities at The Mother Church, who agreed to come to Lansing and meet with them.

The branch church invited members from all over the state and even included a few churches from Indiana, Ohio, and Canada. Fifty enthusiastic members showed up, and there was an inspiring, heartfelt discussion. This led to holding two more roundtables in other branch churches—one in Indiana and one in Toronto. The word continued to spread, and more roundtables were scheduled.

The roundtables have helped members stay focused on the healing practice as we move toward Annual Meeting 2015 with the theme, “ ‘A spiritual foundation of Christ-healing’—continuing to build.”
