Recently I overheard a child, apparently referring to a prior conversation, insist to his mother that he’d told her the truth; it “just wasn’t quite true.” The mother gently corrected him, explaining that if something isn’t true, it’s not truth.
I appreciated this simple explanation. By its very definition, truth is always true. And divine Truth, by God’s very nature as omnipresent, all-powerful, eternal Spirit, is always governing the universe and revealing the erroneousness of material beliefs.
The implications of this are profound and wonderful! Mary Baker Eddy writes, “This is the doctrine of Christian Science: that divine Love cannot be deprived of its manifestation, or object; that joy cannot be turned into sorrow, for sorrow is not the master of joy; that good can never produce evil; that matter can never produce mind nor life result in death” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 304).
