Opportunity to contribute
The Bible says, “Whatsoever things are of good report … think on these things” (Philippians 4:8). We are seeking more submissions for the Journal’s “Of Good Report” column. In this column, readers share good news of how spiritual understanding and prayer have brought progress on a variety of subjects. The examples shared include, but are not limited to, healing progress in churches, how Christian Science has made an impact on readers’ families over the years and brought healing, and stories of sharing Christian Science with others. Please see http://jsh.christianscience.com/submit for submission information and write “Of Good Report” in “Author comments” on the submission form.
An outstanding article
[“The privilege of subscribing to The Christian Science Monitor,” Christa Case Bryant, November 2016, Journal]
What an outstanding article about the value and importance of the Monitor. The point the writer covered about its place as one of our periodicals that we are privileged to subscribe to, as the Manual By-Law states, was most interesting—that it lifts a burden, the burden that we have more than we can contend with in the world scene, so it’s pointless or depressing to try to deal with it.
I have found, as the writer points out, that the Monitor has made me realize the hope and progress that is taking place in the world. It has made me feel I am part of the world. It takes me “out of myself” to see a wider view that invites prayers of comfort and healing for my fellow man and appreciation for those working toward resolution and progress. Thank you for this very fine article and the excellent example shared from the writer’s own experience in Jerusalem.

Awesome articles
Thank you to all the writers in the December 2016 Journal. Every article contained helpful, thoughtful ideas that I have reread several times, like in the interview with Rob Gilbert, “Overcoming discouragement,” where he shared a poem by Marcella Krisel and this thought, “I can of mine own self do nothing” (John 5:30)—i.e., get self out of the way—and “let some light reach the problem and show its nothingness.” And in Chet Manchester’s article, “Afraid of illness? Reframe the battle!”: “David ran to meet Goliath, reframing the battle as offensive instead of defensive.” I also liked the testimonies that spoke of victory and the ever-presence of the Christ. Thank you all.
