The armor of prayer

From the December 2018 issue of The Christian Science Journal

In warfare, when an enemy is defeated, his supply line, his munitions, his camp, are completely destroyed to ensure there will be no further attacks or danger. A friend shared that thought with me, and it later resulted in a quick and significant healing.

I was washing our beloved dog, Sammy, and some of his waste got into a split in my thumbnail. I cleaned it as best I could and didn’t give it a second thought until a few days later when I was showering, and all of a sudden this thumb was clamoring for attention. There appeared to be a serious infection, and the physical evidence began to escalate. I knew the quick escalation was because of fear that I’d let into my thought. I was reminded of a presentation I needed to make less than a week later, and unpleasant scenarios presented themselves.

Christian Science teaches that God, the divine Mind, is in reality the source and creator of all. Also, that God is good, only. Because the source of all existence is God, Spirit, and not matter, and because Spirit is good only, there is actually nothing in matter that can harm us or make conditions for us. God, eternal good, is supreme, and He enables us to demonstrate this.
