The Cause of Christian Science needs you now

From the June 2018 issue of The Christian Science Journal

If you were asked to name some “worthy causes,” you could probably identify quite a few.

You might begin simply by recalling some solicitations in the regular mail—from organizations wanting to prevent cruelty to animals, possibly, or save the whales or preserve the environment. You might recall news of local first responders gathering to go off to distant places to help with disaster relief. The Christian Science Monitor recently reported on a group of girls in India taking bold action to make their small village a model community. And millions around the world, of course, have been joining the cause of women who have been sexually harassed and abused.

Many of these causes are profoundly moving. They’ve been eliciting waves of public compassion, contributions, and volunteers. It doesn’t take long to see there’s been an enormous proliferation of good causes and that this indicates something of a tectonic shift in human thought. It tells of people tired of being victims. They want to be part of solutions. And they will work together, proving that good motives, thoughtful, caring new initiatives, and hard work produce more good.
