Recently I met with a university student for ten weeks as part of her class assignment to interact with a senior citizen. She shared how she loved her theology class, and I shared how I love the Bible and the book that makes it so practical—Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. I offered her a copy of the book, and she asked what it was about. It was a great opportunity for me to consider the book’s importance.
The Christian Science textbook guides us in learning, understanding, and demonstrating the spiritual laws that prove God is the source of all health. It defines God and our relationship to God. It shows how sin, sickness, disease, and death are no part of God’s creation. It teaches how to pray, follow Christ Jesus’ teachings, and heal as he instructed his followers to do.
When I shared this: “To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings” (Science and Health, p. vii), the young woman’s reply of, “Wow, that’s deep!” awakened me to the importance of recognizing these daily blessings.
