The Talent That Heals

From the April 1974 issue of The Christian Science Journal

There is a fable that a small spider was accidentally shut in the back of a watch. Its position appeared hopeless. But it did the one thing a spider can do. It spun a web. And that gummed up the works! The watch was opened for cleaning, and the spider was free. He was free because he used the special talent a spider has.

We also have a talent. Everybody has it. It is the most powerful talent there is. There is absolutely nothing it cannot achieve. But it needs developing. It is the talent to love.

Man has this talent because he is God-created, and because God is Love itself. It is as natural for us to love as for spiders to spin webs. A baby loves as it clutches at the beads around your neck and smiles up at you. A schoolboy loves as he shares his dinner with his dog. Parents love as they ponder their children's welfare.
