Doesn't everyone want protection, protection from the inharmonies which seem to be present in the world today? Doesn't everyone want to live by a standard that gives him the poise and peace which come with the assurance that the standard he is adhering to is right? And doesn't everyone wish that this way of life would never cease? This life of peace and poise is found through obedience to the Manual of The Mother Church, which was written by Mary Baker Eddy to maintain the standard of Christian Science among the members of her Church. This standard includes one perfect God, good, and man, the reflection of God.

IN this modem age, when there are so many interesting and worthwhile activities in which to participate, it is more important than ever before to be selective and to put first things first. Many of us remember the slogan which was so popular during World War II when gasoline rationing was in effect, "Is this trip really necessary?" When we seem to have more to do than we can accomplish in the line of material duties, pleasures, or organizational functions, some good questions to ask ourselves are: "Is this trip or meeting or household chore entirely necessary? Am I doing this from a false sense of responsibility, false pride, or a mistaken idea of what real satisfaction is? Am I neglecting my daily study of Christian Science because I think I do not have time for it? Am I too busy with routine chores to do my share of church work?" If the answer to the last three questions is Yes, then it is time to lift our thoughts above the material into the realm of the real and to know that our only business is to demonstrate our perfect relationship with God.

CHRIST JESUS' Sermon on the Mount is a brilliant pattern for human conduct. He knew that the nature of mankind must be regenerated before the spiritual sense of existence can be comprehended and the kingdom of heaven gained.

MRS. EDDY writes on page 263 of Science and Health, "When mortal man blends his thoughts of existence with the spiritual and works only as God works, he will no longer grope in the dark and cling to earth because he has not tasted heaven.

IT is not a mistake to take literally God's promises in the Bible. Rather, it is a mistake which may deprive us of safety, health, and peace if we fail to recognize that these promises are for our present use.
