Business meetings of a Church of Christ, Scientist, are established for the purpose of transacting such matters as are essential to the maintenance and progress of the church. Sometimes the question is asked by students of Christian Science as to whether or not they should classify themselves as Protestants. Christian Science presents a higher protest against matter and evil than has been known before.
In an article entitled "Christian Science" in "Miscellaneous Writings" Mary Baker Eddy says ( p. 235 ): "By this system, too, man has a changed recognition of his relation to God.
Just as one standing in front of a flawless mirror beholds a clear, accurate reflection of himself, so man as revealed in Christian Science is seen to be the perfect, harmonious reflection of God, the source of his being. The blurred or distorted reflection in an imperfect mirror does not accurately depict the figure of the person standing in front of the glass; neither does the false, discordant view of man presented by the material senses truly represent man's real selfhood, made in the image of God, perfect Mind.
