Law is commonly identified with government. In one sense it is defined as "a rule of action established by authority.
In considering the needs of the times and the cry of lack on every side, the Christian Scientist knows that it is a lack of understanding of God and of spiritual values that is hindering the solving of the human problem; and this fear of limitation or loss has found many an unsuspected mental lodging place. But where it has gained entrance, there can one turn right-about face and with renewed effort and application of God's law of infinite goodness rout this enemy of peace.
Is there any greater opportunity in the Christian Science movement for loving, unselfish, Christian service to God and to the Cause than teaching the children in the Christian Science Sunday School? Is there any greater joy than to see the blessed fruition of this work? When the disciples of Jesus asked him, "Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?" he "called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them, and said, Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven. Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
Light is defined in several meanings: as "the essential condition of vision;" as "mental or spiritual illumination or enlightenment or its source; that which illumines or makes clear to the mind;" as a "visible state or condition. " In connection with the last definition, it is interesting to study Jesus' command, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.
On page 276 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy says, "Real consciousness is cognizant only of the things of God;" and in "Unity of Good" ( p. 4 ) she assures us that "God is all true consciousness.
In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy gives complete instructions for the utilization of the truths revealed in this Science in the overcoming of disease and discord of every nature.
The study and application of Christian Science develops the conviction that material pleasures are mythical in their claim to value, and that real pleasure is immaterial, God-given. The spiritual fact involved has been more or less clearly glimpsed by religious teachers and thinkers from remote times, material pleasure being classified by the Preacher as "vanity and vexation of spirit.
In our business we find it well occasionally to take an account of stock; to estimate our gain or loss, as the case may be; to decide whether we are making sufficient headway to justify the effort we are putting forth; and to discover, if possible, how we may improve our investment. In a certain sense this is occasionally as useful to the student of Christian Science as to the merchant.
One of the many perplexing problems of human experience is that of making right decisions. In the words of the prophet Joel, "Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision.
A Wealth of spiritual inspiration unfolds to any devout student of the Bible as he deeply meditates upon the sublime life and splendid achievements of Christ Jesus. During the three years of his public ministry he honored God and blessed his friends and enemies in a manner never equaled by any other individual.
