IN the third chapter of Acts, in one of the most interesting incidents of early apostolic days, it is related that one who had been lame from birth was carried daily and laid "at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful," that he might ask alms of those who entered into the temple. On a certain day, as Peter and John were going to the temple at the hour of prayer, this one lying at the Beautiful gate asked an alms of them, and Peter said to him, "Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
THROUGHOUT the times of which we have any record, humanity has been earnestly reaching out for divine protection, seeking to be delivered and released from its fears, its doubts, its difficulties, its sicknesses, its sins. As human thought became more clearly articulate in voicing its spiritual aspirations, the acknowledgment of divine protection was more fully expressed.
CALL no man your father upon the earth," said Christ Jesus: "for one is your Father, which is in heaven"—and the Master knew of what he was speaking. In his words there is contained a profound spiritual truth, a truth, however, which was never fully elucidated until the coming of Christian Science.

A VERY great deal has been said about human footsteps and the necessity of taking them in our journey from sense to Soul. It is always helpful to study more than one thing which our Leader has said on any subject, either in the textbook of Christian Science, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," or in her other writings; for by so doing we get a better perspective of the point under consideration, and as a result our actions will correspond.

MANY helpful accounts are found in the Bible of experiences which took place in a wilderness, and the prophet Isaiah speaks with great beauty of the transformation of the wilderness into a place of joy and peace. The children of Israel passed through the wilderness before they reached the promised land, and their experiences are helpful to the Christian of to-day who is journeying from the enslavement of materiality to the spiritual haven of Soul.
ALL error—the opposite of the truth—is suppositional. Mortals seem first to accept error as real, and then slowly abandon their false position for the truth.
POSSIBLY no subject is of greater importance or of wider interest than that of government. In civilized countries many women, as well as men, are giving serious consideration to the question as to how to obtain good government; and even the youth of many lands are encouraged to grapple with this problem.
HOW grateful we should be that Truth, which Christian Science reveals, never leaves us, although we may appear to leave it at times. Discouragement or material expediency may enmesh us and try to reverse our progress, but invariably the Christ, Truth, turns us anew to the light.
