Exploring in depth what Christian Science is and how it heals.

ORGANIZATION

Organization is an important element of national institutions, constructive operations, and comprehensive enlightenment. Its purpose is to establish order, develop efficiency, protect liberty, and promote progress.

TIME NO PART OF ETERNITY

For the readers of Mrs. Eddy's remarkable and epoch-making volume, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," there could be nothing more challenging to their preconceived theories and beliefs than the statement on page 468 that "time is no part of eternity.

"ABSENT FROM THE BODY"

Absence from the body no longer hints at any post mortem achievement to the student of Christian Science. He thinks of it as a present-day victory over the corporeal senses, and then starts in to "fight the good fight of faith" and to lay hold of eternal Life, which was never in or of matter.

"FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS' SAKE"

It is not difficult, when one considers the cause of Christian Science as a whole, to understand why this movement has been the object of continued persecution from opposing material systems, theories, falsely styled sciences, and scholastic theology. To these material modes of human thought Christian Science seems tremendously iconoclastic, and mortal mind ever resists what it recognizes as its destroyer.

ASCENDANT CONSCIOUSNESS

In the Messianic forecast found in the third chapter of Malachi, we read, "Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple .

LIBERTY

His emergence from material beliefs is the measure of a man's freedom. Jesus' immortal promise of liberation from all evil, "If ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed; and ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free," was imperfectly apprehended even by his immediate followers, for mortal thought casts off its trammels reluctantly unless compelled by stress and pain.

WITHIN THE WALL OF JERICHO

We have had many beautiful and helpful lessons on the obedience and fidelity of Joshua's soldiers who compassed the wall of Jericho and brought it low, but seldom does our thought turn to those within the wall or on its turrets. What did this army mean to them? Possibly they looked upon them as a band of foolish marchers, buoyed up by false hopes, lured on by their leader's command, following the trumpet-call of the priests in advance.

FORGIVENESS

In the teaching of Christ Jesus we find an imperative demand that we should forgive our debtors, as well as the need expressed of being ourselves forgiven. In the searching light of his loving command and counsel we are impelled to examine ourselves as to how and in what kind of spirit we forgive.

LAW

No one has seen so clearly as our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, the necessity of Christian Scientists becoming a law to themselves.

BROAD-MINDEDNESS

Though broad-mindedness has ever been considered an admirable quality, human conceptions of broad-mindedness have continued at the best to be limited and indefinable. Humanity in its readiness to be content with any pleasing prospect has frequently ignored the fact that the breadth and real import of the view increased proportionately with the height of the vantage-point.
