Exploring in depth what Christian Science is and how it heals.

PARENTS AND CHILDREN

THOUGH many blessings have come to the writer through Christian Science, she is especially thankful that the knowledge of this religion came to her while her children were yet young,—one was two and the other three years old,—so they could receive their early training in accordance with its teachings. From that time until the present Christian Science has been the only remedy for every discord, physical or mental.

CHRISTIAN SCIENCE AND THE COLLEGE STUDENT

THE influence of Christian Science is being felt in every phase of modern life. Men and women rated high and low, rich and poor, famous and insignificant, are all alike in their ability to receive aid and comfort from its inspired teaching about God and man in His likeness.

ADVANCING FOOTSTEPS

HUMANLY speaking, the writer's great problem had always been that of lack, the belief in poverty having to mortal sense been hereditary; and while results in physical healing were obtained from the beginning of her study of Christian Science, it was long before the other problem gave any sign of yielding. She well remembers how eagerly she looked for testimonies bearing on this subject of overcoming want, and trusts the story of her experience may prove helpful to others.

PERFECTION THE STANDARD

NO greater questions are presented to humanity than these: What is God? What is man? The answers are found in the Bible, and they satisfy the weary searchers after Truth who gain a spiritual apprehension of their meaning. The first chapter of Genesis presents a complete record of creation, or revelation.

TEMPTATION

AFTER Jesus had seen the heavens opened, following his act of humility and obedience in being baptized of John, and beheld the dove descending, and heard the voice declaring him to be God's "beloved Son," we are told that he was "led up of the spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. " The narrative says that he "fasted forty days and forty nights" before the tempter assailed him.

MENTAL SUPPORT

WHILE many Christians may be willing to accept as true, and possibly as axiomatic, the statement made by Mrs. Eddy in Science and Health (p.

ALLEGIANCE TO GOD

IN the thirtieth chapter of Deuteronomy we read that Moses said to the people: "I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: that thou mayest love the Lord thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days. " The whole record of the Jewish people points to an intense conviction that if only they could ascertain and obey the will of God, all the problems of existence would be solved.

PROBLEM OF GOOD AND EVIL

THE fallibility of human knowledge is the lament of the ages; yet the thirst of intellect has based the highest achievements of the race, for despite the siren lure of personal attainment, which has wrecked many a brave quest, the honest desire for truth, and truth alone, has ever pervaded the search for satisfying knowledge. Seeking for results, we find that physical science, perplexed by many and deep questionings, confesses mind beyond its scope; while no system of ethics or metaphysics has convincingly reduced to law the phenomena of consciousness.

DAWN OF PEACE

WHEN ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these things must first come to pass. " These are the words which Christ Jesus once spoke to his disciples in connection with the ultimate utter destruction of all things material.

PRACTISING THE ALLNESS OF GOD

CHRISTIAN SCIENCE occupies its distinctive position among the Christian denominations solely because it is reducing to practice the teaching of God's infinitude. While the churches are mainly agreed that this teaching is true, there has been little disposition to apply it literally to the problems of human existence, notwithstanding that only through such application can the kingdom of God be brought to the human consciousness.
