I am deeply honored to be serving as President for the coming year, and feel especially privileged to be here as our worldwide family celebrates the first Annual Meeting convening in Berlin, Germany, and Boston, US, as well as over the Internet. GOOD MORNING! Welcome to the

The Annual Meetings of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, convened on Monday, June 2, 2003. The meeting took place in the Extension of The Mother Church in Boston, and in the Max-Schmeling-Halle in Berlin, and was broadcast live on the Internet.

Imagine for a moment that you are going to attend a meeting in a far-away country, and this will be your first time abroad. When you get to the conference, not only are there many likeminded people who speak your language, but you find out that each presentation in the conference will be interpreted into your own language.

No matter which city they chose, people who attended 2003 Annual Meeting of The Mother Church & Conference found registrars and greeters happy to welcome them. Since Annual Meeting had been held in the Extension of The Mother Church in Boston, Massachusetts, many times, the building and its lovely interior were familiar to most people.

The worshipers gathered at 312 Azusa Street, in downtown Los Angeles. They were lively, and seemed to carry on nonstop.

Churches can grow new—instead of old

Honor Hill , who recently completed a term as President of The First Church of Christ, Scientist, has been a public speaker on Christian Science for nine years and has advertised as a Christian healer since 1986. The Journal asked her to offer some observations about the Church Mary Baker Eddy founded and to tell about her experiences as lecturer.
