The simplicity and dignity of a service in a Church of Christ, Scientist, with its minimum of ritualism and glamour, has earned the admiration of many non-Christian Scientists. The provision for silent prayer followed by the audible repetition of the Lord's Prayer in unison contributes greatly to the effectiveness of the service in uplifting thought and healing the congregation.

All that has ever been done to further the cause of Truth and to bring the Comforter to mankind has been done through self-abnegation and self-immolation. One of the greatest opportunities one can have to realize these qualities comes through serving in a democratic church government.

Almost daily we hear of the apparent lack of communication, understanding, and support between parents and children in what has come to be called "the generation gap. " Where trust, affection, a spontaneous give and take of ideas and sharing of experiences should be the norm, too often there is distrust, withdrawal, and even heartbreaking separation.

We all love church, or we wouldn't be church members. And yet, many of us have those moments (Would you believe that they even go into days and weeks?) when our love for church seems to waver, maybe falters a little and even appears to crumble.

A wise Christian Scientist, even in the midst of group activity, remains within the atmosphere of God's omnipresent grace. He does not lower his thinking to the level of the chaotic carnal mind.

A young boy looks up at the stars and experiences a mighty struggle within himself. A scientist, after spending hours at his test tubes and microscopes, despairingly searches his thinking.

The cry goes up for an end to hatred and violence, for a greater respect for law, for a heightened sense of equality and social justice. Everyone will not agree how these goals may best be achieved.
