THE wilderness journey of the Israelites illustrates the progress of Christianity through centuries of struggle as it has prepared humanity to enter the Promised Land of infinite peace. This land is the spiritual state revealed by Christian Science as the only true state of man.

NOTHING is more vital to successful healing in Christian Science than strict adherence to the standard of healing established by our beloved Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. This standard is clearly set forth by her on page 167 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," in the following statement: "It is not wise to take a halting and half-way position or to expect to work equally with Spirit and matter, Truth and error.

The Christmas season comes and goes. The emotions and enthusiasms it engenders lift us up and then let us down.

A Very important event in the community where a Christian Science church is located takes place on Sunday in that church. This is the place where the bread of Life is distributed, where health and peace, the answer to the needs of every man, woman, and child in the community, are offered "without money and without price" ( Isa.

Shortly before Christ Jesus was to depart from this earth, he said to his disciples ( John 14:27 ), "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. " The peace which the Master left does not rest upon material power or diplomatic influence, but is a spiritual fact, eternally established in the kingdom of heaven, which he came to reveal.

There is a war going on. We are in it.

Among the things for which many people are thankful is the freedom they enjoy to turn to God in grateful acknowledgment of His goodness and power. The custom of gathering in places of worship to publicly express thankfulness for the benefits and blessings God bestows upon them brings vividly to thought their dependence upon Him for their very existence.

In January, 1962, two new editions of The Herald of Christian Science will be launched by The Christian Science Publishing Society. Their languages will be, respectively, Japanese and Bahasa Indonesia.

IN 1866 Mrs. Eddy discovered that the healing power of Christ, the Truth which Jesus taught and practiced, is as available today as it was in the early days of Christianity.

PAUL wrote to the Colossians:"Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God" ( 3:2,3 ).
