QUITE a few people are prone to revere the career of Jesus as sacred history rather than as indicative of the demonstrable, healing Principle, divine Love, to be fully utilized and enjoyed by every Christian today. They are apt to commemorate Christmas in a reminiscent way, and by outward festivities, rather than in the demonstrable way of glorifying God and emulating the example of Christ Jesus by pure thinking and definite overcoming of material discords.

IT has been said that the existence of the Christian movement is the best evidence that Jesus arose from the dead, for this movement was based on his resurrection. Thus, when his disciples chose an apostle to succeed Judas, they ordained Matthias to be a witness with the loyal eleven of the Master's resurrection.

THE inspired record of creation in the first chapter of Genesis abounds in metaphor, and it is essential that we discern the scientific truth as indicated there through the symbols of light and firmament. One regarding these as referring only to material phenomena would be left with that faulty, transitory concept of creation to which is traceable much of the atheism, confusion, sickness, and despair abroad in the world to-day.

ON page 331 of the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mrs. Eddy gives a definition of God which cannot fail to aid in freeing the conscientious student of Christian Science from a finite sense of Deity.

ALL Christians can agree that the religion taught by Christ Jesus has not yet fulfilled his predictions for it. The lives of his earnest followers do not yet show the results of his teachings which he foretold and promised.

WE are glad to announce the opening of a fund under the auspices of The Mother Church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, in Boston, Massachusetts, to enable needy Christian Scientists to enter Christian Science Houses in England and Wales. It will be recalled that, in 1927, the British Parliament passed an Act to regulate the conduct of nursing homes.

HISTORY is full of instances of what might be termed spurious greatness. Its records contain the names of many whose lives, although accounted great in the eyes of the world, were almost entirely barren of goodness.

EVERY  progressive thinker is constantly making fresh discoveries in his own line of work. To this end he shows self-sacrifice, courage, perseverance, enthusiasm, and very probably substitutes labor for ordinary human recreation.

WHEN the persons who become patient and practitioner for Christian Science healing have a clear view of this relationship, or of its contemplated service, this comprehension will help them to get and give the desired service, avoid what it does not include, and fulfill their respective obligations. This statement applies to both of these parties, but especially to the practitioner.

MANKIND in general has regarded Soul as chiefly pertaining to salvation in some future state, but Christian Science shows one how to utilize its capacities here and now. The disciple John shows the relation between Soul and the gifts of health and prosperity when he writes, "Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth.
