Testimonies of Healing

LAST SUMMER, I had been doing a lot of physical labor and running a few miles each morning with our new dog. One day, I noticed that my hip was starting to hurt.

SEVERAL YEARS AGO, my left foot developed a severe case of athlete's foot. Though annoying and uncomfortable, I thought it would simply clear up on its own.

I WAS STUNNED. At an appointment to have my teeth cleaned, a dentist whom I had not previously visited informed me that I had a serious gum disease and scheduled me to come back for special procedures.

A FEW YEARS AGO, I experienced the powerful and immediate healing effect of Christian Science prayer. At a high school where I used to work, I was privileged to help coach the junior varsity track team.

MANY YEARS AGO, I began to notice that the eyesight in one of my eyes was deteriorating. At first I was alarmed and really prayed, claiming my spirituality and unbreakable relation to God—but more from a standpoint of fear than conviction.

A FEW SUMMERS AGO, we took a family vacation to Cabo San Lucas in Baja California, Mexico. At the tip of Baja where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez, the waters are very rough, to the point that swimming is now not permitted on the Pacific Ocean side.

I WAS INVITED to give a speech on an inspirational topic of my choice at a meeting of a Christian Science Nursing organization. While I was preparing to give this talk, I prayed to resist seeing it as an opportunity to show off what I knew.

ONE EVENING, about ten years ago, I was stricken with severe pain in my lower back and abdomen. Having been raised in Christian Science, my first inclination was to pray for myself.
