Testimonies of Healing

TEN YEARS AGO , I went through a very dark time. Within a period of six months I lost my father and a friend I loved as a son.

FIVE YEARS AGO, one of my neighborhood friends saw my need and introduced me to Christian Science when I was feeling depressed and had some physical ailments. I found a new world of happiness when I received a very warm welcome from all church members.

IN JULY 2009 , I attended my Christian Science association, which was held in Chicago's Sheraton Gateway Hotel. We had an inspiring morning session, followed by a lunch break.

A FEW YEARS AGO I was visiting a friend in Chicago, while en route to Texas to return to my job as a third grade teacher. What started with symptoms that left me feeling weak and dizzy, quickly turned into acute pain.

EARLIER THIS YEAR when the summer school vacations started, my six-year-old daughter stayed at my parents' house for a few days. While I was visiting them, she started to cry late one night and said that her ear was aching.

OVER A YEAR AGO, a deep woundlike sore developed on my leg and persisted. As a golfer in the South, I was embarrassed by not being able to wear shorts for two golfing seasons.

BACK IN THE 1990s while living in Dubai—and before discovering Christian Science and the joys of Truth—I heard that hypertension was hereditary. With both my parents suffering from this ailment, I was not too surprised when I was diagnosed with the same illness.

SHORTLY AFTER the Civil War, my great-grandparents went West in a covered wagon, and homesteaded on the Kansas prairie. Their three daughters found Christian Science in the late 1800s and never ceased in their love of this truth, or their expression of it.

THE SPIRITUAL TRUTHS of Christian Science, as discovered and shared with the world by Mary Baker Eddy, have been "a very present help in trouble" ( Ps. 46:1 ) for me during my career.
