Testimonies of Healing

One summer a few years ago, I noticed some red spots and bumps on one of my arms that began to itch. At first I didn’t pay much attention to them, but soon the spots covered both arms and the upper portion of my body.

Some years ago, a serious growth developed on my body. At one point it became aggravated, and the need for healing was very evident.

I would like to express gratitude to God for a special healing my youngest daughter had many years ago. Each year I would take her to a doctor for a yearly checkup as required by our school system.

It is with a great sense of gratitude that I would like to report some healings that occurred during the final months of my second pregnancy, which culminated in the quick and completely harmonious birth of my daughter a little over a year ago, just a week before Thanksgiving.   When I found out that my husband and I were expecting our second baby, I was delighted.

An expression of gratitude in our periodicals is long overdue for the many blessings I have received through my study of Christian Science. Literally, I owe my life to the application of the Science of Christ, as revealed in the Bible and explained in the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy.

After I retired, I found myself traveling quite a bit and also living in two places. At that time I felt it was easier to attend Christian Science church services online.

I awoke one morning to great discomfort in one arm. An elbow and finger were stiff and swollen, and they were not functioning properly.

Over the span of about twenty years starting in young adulthood, every few years I would experience the symptoms of a mild heart attack. Each time this happened, I would declare the truth of my being—ideas that I had learned through studying Christian Science: that I am not material but spiritual, and therefore not subject to material conditions; that God loves me and is all-powerful and always present, keeping me safe in His kingdom; that my life is pure, created and governed by God, and cannot be defective or contaminated; that any claim of mortal discord has to be an illusion, because “all things were made by him [the Word of God]; and without him was not any thing made that was made” ( John 1:3 ); that I cannot be separated from God, who is Life itself and fills all space; that God is the only Mind, and therefore I cannot be made to believe in something that God does not know; that there is no mortal law of heredity, time, or limitation on God’s idea, since, as Mary Baker Eddy writes, “God’s law is in three words, ‘I am All;’ and this perfect law is ever present to rebuke any claim of another law” ( No and Yes, p.
