Welcome
For more than a century, readers of The Christian Science Journal have found inspiration, discovered new ideas, and been healed as a result of reading its articles, testimonies, and features. With thousands of individual articles published through the years, there have, of course, been any number of topics and subjects addressed.
Hope. Easter.
Challenges. We all have them.
A member of our staff, whose family was hosting a student from another country, was telling us a little about the experience. The host-family found out that their guest really enjoyed going to the cinema, but she didn't care to watch any love stories.
Dear Reader, A while back a young man was stabbed and taken to the hospital. Late that afternoon the attending physician urged his mother to go home; there wasn't much hope that her son would live.
Dear Reader, How wonderful that, for many, Christmas continues to be a time of celebrating the birth of Christ Jesus as well as our own individual awakening to the significance of that momentous event. The prophet shepherds heard these words: "Unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
When people read the Bible, they find that the tenor, or spirit, of the Word can touch their lives in any number of ways. The Word of God presented in the Ten Commandments, in the Sermon on the Mount, in the rich accounts of Jesus' life, defines and provides what is needed for worthwhile living in every age.
We're glad you've opened up this issue of The Christian Science Journal —even if you've just done it out of curiosity! And if you've never looked at a copy of this magazine before, we hope you won't feel like a stranger. This Journal was written for you.
Dear Reader, "Physicality renewed, and lost lives regenerated through spiritual healing—that's our story. " These were some of the words spoken at the Annual Meeting of The Mother Church this past June.
We think you'll love this month's Journal. No, we aren't thinking of this in quite the way that some people love to sit down and read a good novel or go to an interesting movie.
