At the annual meeting of the Executive Members held in the Mother Church, Saturday, June 11, the following letter to Mrs. Eddy was unanimously approved and was forwarded to her by special messenger.
A gentleman with whom I recently conversed, took serious exception to the word idea , as used to explain God's creations, and especially man. He somewhat contemptuously remarked, "I hope I am more than an idea! Do you consider yourself only an idea?" I endeavored to explain the sense in which this term was used in the Christian Science text-book.
My Beloved Students :—According to reports the belief is springing up in your midst, that the several churches in New York City should come together and form one Church! This is a suggestion of error that should be silenced at its inception. You cannot have lost sight of the Rules for branch churches, as published in our Church Manual.
