Dear Reader

From the May 1992 issue of The Christian Science Journal

We are brought together each month by something much more powerful than paper and ink. What unites Journal readers is a deep commitment to scientific Christianity—and the vital church experience that supports Christ-healing. This issue continues a special initiative begun last month: to strengthen our insight into the spiritual meaning of Church and our active part in its radical, reforming mission in our local and world communities.

Church, as Mary Baker Eddy envisioned it, is uniquely designed to do for the world what nothing else can accomplish. She writes, "The Church, more than any other institution, at present is the cement of society, and it should be the bulwark of civil and religious liberty" (Miscellaneous Writings).

Through divine Mind's inspiration and guidance, and with the spiritual camaraderie so instinctive to those who love the Science of Christianity, healing and religious reform definitely go on—and gain momentum. Once someone begins to glimpse man's identity as God's likeness, the spiritual expression of infinite Love, a small, limited affection is no longer possible.
